Glenn is one of the most insightful, purpose driven modeling and simulation subject matter experts I've worked with in my 30 year Army Career and in industry. I've known and worked with him for more than 15 years in wide ranging duties and responsibilities and could always count him to cut through the clutter to clearly define the issues / challenges and then identify a clear methodology to resolve it. Never shy to offer an honest, thought-out position, he is a strong leader who gets things done. He'd make an immediate and tangible positive impact on any organization. He has my highest recommendation.
Dr. Glenn Hodges, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, left an indelible impact on the Army Officer Career Field for Simulation Operations Officers (designated FA57). Glenn's strategic vision and in depth understanding of critical elements for workforce development, education and training are still being realized some 6 years after he left the personnel proponent position in 2011. He has been and continues to be an asset to the FA57 Career Field.
Glenn was one of the first managers I worked for as a lead. His commitment to our department and his vision to see everyone excel really impacted me to learn more and to become a better leader. He encouraged me to start my civilian education, even if it was just the core classes, anything. He was sincere and passionate about growing as a person and as a leader. To this day I take his guidance to heart and am nearing the completion of graduate school. Had Glenn not shared his passion or direction, I would probably be with the 50% of Veterans who don't even use their MGIB. Glenn epitomizes the meaning of a leader, a mentor, a coach. If I were asked to work with Glenn again, I would do so without hesitation. He contains a vast wealth of knowledge and isn't afraid to share. Likewise, should someone ask me if I would bring Glenn on for a case study or simulation I would recommend Glenn to be moved to the top of the list.
Acted as a technical interoperability consultant and finance manager for the FLOIS project. The multi-year effort focused on mission command architecture interoperability to support US and UK government acquisition decisions. Applied knowledge of digital systems data structures, and interoperability to improve coalition situational awareness.
Early Synthetic Prototyping (ESP) and Interactive Synthetic Environment (ISE) projects designed for the US Army and US Navy respectively, were developed to enable user access and input to the capability development and experimentation processes. Prototyping environments leverage commercial game technologies.
Reviewed the multiple strategic education programs in the US Army for the Director of the Futures center. The research studied the various programs, identified areas of overlap and made recommendations for the overall US Army Strategy program refinement.
In 2017, established and led the US Army effort to improve the way human entities behave in simulation environments. Work included developing a computational referent of the RAND Will to Fight model and integrating the model into the OneSAF constructive simulation program. We continue to support the HBR effort in both technical and policy development areas.
Currently support SBIR/STTR projects working in the area of artificial intelligence and machine learning for education and training of US Army personnel.
Developed resident and distance learning (eLearning) courses for the US Naval Postgraduate School. MV3101 focused on educating officers on modeling and simulation activities in the Department of Defense. MV4657 focused on teaching students how to develop and assess model/simulation strengths and weaknesses for unique purposes.
